easy access to some of the finest beaches
in France and of course Belgium, Holland and the UK &
Ireland. The town is historically rich due to the fact
that it lies at the crossroads of so many different countries
and cultures and has changed hands so many times.
Saint-Omer
is a beautiful town, the architecture is a real blend
of styles, the most imposing being military fortifications
erected by Vauban (famous French engineer). A section
of the ramparts remain intact on the western side of
the town, converted into a park known as the 'jardin
public'. The “watergangs” that unite the
land to form a single town are wonderfully tranquil,
the town also has two harbors outside the city and one
within.
